From childhood to motherhood, every woman seeks a best friend. That is why we would create imaginary friends as kids or always had our dolls with us. We’re drawn to tv shows that portray “perfect” friendships like Cleo, Emma, & Rikki or Brooke and Haley or Lorelai and Sookie.
Our entire lives we are meeting friends, losing friends, seeking friends. It’s engrained in us and that’s why when we do find that one friend who just gets us, it’s like magic.
If you are like me then you’ve had about a million different “best friends” in your life. But let’s be realistic, that term is so overused now, and I’m completely guilty of it! A best friend isn’t just someone you get along with well, it’s someone who’s with you through the tough times.
From my experience, the greatest friends are ones who you can disagree with and get upset with but at the end of the day it’s like nothing has happened. We are not perfect people, we are going to argue and make mistakes. However, that shouldn’t be the ending of a friendship. Friendships take work, they take sacrifice, and they take forgiveness.
It’s so important to your growth and faith that you have a biblical, sweet friendship in your life. That person will listen when you’re going through something, give wise advice when you’re in need, and be a shoulder to cry on. They’ll also be someone you laugh with till you can’t breathe, someone you can sit in silence with, and someone who makes you feel great about yourself. As I said, I have gone through so many friendships in my life. Some have really hurt me, some I miss, some I regret, some will always be a part of me. No matter what, every friendship is meaningful and plays a part into who I am. But some of the friends I have now, I know are who God placed in my life to reflect this verse. No matter what happens, I hope I’ll always remember the joy they are currently bringing to my life.
